Following an incident on Friday night in which the 49ers’ linebacker Gerald Hodges tackled Eddie Lacy by the back of his hair, the NFL has confirmed that tackling via dreadlocks is acceptable. The league also confirmed that biting, scratching your eyes out, kicking, and calling a player a dirty whore was also league-approved.
In a recent interview regarding the situation, Hodges stated, “What was I supposed to do? Lacy had already beaten me so badly that I couldn’t even get a good horse-collar in. I had no choice but to pull his hair.”
Eddie Lacy, to his credit, has accepted part of the blame stating, “If I hadn’t insisted on wearing this awesome head of hair, I would have left Hodges tripping over himself and eating a faceful of turf. I’m considering just cutting the locks.”
The NFL has, however, confirmed that stomping on another player is still not acceptable.
